I discovered this old Victorian mansion in the neighborhood where I go for my doctor's appointments. I was shocked when I first saw it. I had heard rumors of Newark in her glory days, but I had no idea. This is tragic. I realized just how far Newark had fallen. I wish I could have seen it when it was inhabited. I also wish I had loads of money to fix it up. It would make a nice office, restaurant, design studio...or all of the above. It is massive.

Absolutely beautiful! Wonder how much they want for it? Maybe when you're a famous lawyer you could transform it into your swanky offices! :)
I love the style. I didn't know Newark had a glory day. I thought it was always a ghetto to it's more infamous sibling cities.

oh no. newark did have its glory days. after the race riots of the 60s, like many other cities, newark was burned. however, unlike many other cities, it was never rebuilt. the wealthy moved out of town and it deteriorated. a lot of people who worked in nyc commuted in from newark. actually, i should walk around my area and take a few more pictures of other beautiful buildings. there are several. it really is sad.
Newark used to be pretty? NO WAY!!
That IS gorgeous. And yes, very sad. I wish I had a ton of money too. Could you imagine renovating a place like that. Wow.
